NC Phenom Report Top 80 – Boys Basketball Report by L.A. Logan

Phenom Hoop Report showcased 80 of the top NC underclassmen at Prohelific Park. I wish the camp was two days long so that I could have scouted every single player. Here’s a list of prospects that caught my eye.

Harry Giles, 6’9 2016 at Wesleyan: No, Harry did not participate but he showed up with his 6’9 210 frame … such a great kid with an outstanding personality … interacted with players and coaches like he was playing, that’s a sign of a leader on and off the floor … humble and hungry … Sky is the limit …

Chazz Surratt, 6’3 2016 at East Lincoln: Lefty point guard with a soft stroke … Reminds of a bigger, stronger and fast Kendall Marshall that can shoot … Has solid frame for his age (almost intimidating for his age) … Stars at quarterback (scored 63 touchdowns last season) and basketball … Holds a 4.7 GPA … High D-1 Prospect in football and basketball … Take your pick kid …

Quayson Williams, 6’1 2015 at Eastern Guilford: Complete scorer … One of the best strokes at the camp … Super tough kid that does not back down to top notch competition … Finishes with either hand around the rim … Puts up points in bunches … Can play on and off the ball …

Dennis Smith Jr, 6’2 2016 at Trinity Christian: Wow … Can do anything at the PG position … Gets to the rim at will with either hand … Has the ball on a rope … One a few players that could shoot and get to the rim … Higher Flyer … High IQ … Won top player award at camp …

Malik Moore, 6’5 2015 at Erwin: Unselfish … Plays multiple positions 1-2-3 … Makes difficult passes … Plays like a true point guard … Can finish above the rim … Hard Worker … Takes nothing for granted … Active on defense … Size for position … High IQ …

Sage Surratt, 6’1 2017 at Lincoln: Younger brother of Chazz … Soft stroke and shots it from anywhere on the court … High motor … Defends ones and twos … Held his own against older competitors … Started varsity football (played WR, one of Chazz’s favorite targets of course) and basketball … Holds a 5.0 GPA … Surratt brothers the real deal …

Jalen Harris, 6’1 2016 at Greenfield: True PG … Sneaky explosiveness (He threw down a tomahawk dunk in traffic) … Reminds of Tyler Ennis … Has the ability to score on every possession but involves his teammates … Shots the 3 well … Makes difficult passes look easy …

Kentrell Barkley, 6’5 2015 at Northern (Durham): Rebounds in traffic and can run the break … An all-purpose player … Passes the ball like a PG on the break … Finishes with contact …

Darius Moore, 5’10 2015 at Greensboro Day: Team leader … Hits spot up 3s … Unselfish … Quick hands … Disturbs opposing PGs … True PG … Can play on any team … Fast with the ball … Always under control … Hard worker … Rarely makes mistakes … Difficult to raddle …

Rayjon Tucker, 6’5 2015 at Northside Christian: High motor … Dumb bunnies (Kwe Parker like) … Hardest working player at the camp … High flyer (Had at least 7 unbelievable dunks throughout the day) … Can hear his voice the whole game … Confidence … Great frame … Defends 1-2-3 … Crowd pleaser …

Kylia Sykes, 6’5 2016 at Trinity Christian: Athletic … Long/lanky wingspan … High Flyer … Can run and finish in transition … Shows up to play … Rebounds in traffic … Not afraid of contact … Competes on both sides of the floor … Capable of hitting the midrange …

Kwe Parker, 6’2 2016 at Trinity Christian: The ultimate human highlight film … You’ve seen the Youtube videos, it’s real … Needs to work on his jumper … Named top defensive player at the camp … Has fun on the court … Crowd pleaser …
