Elon¹s Ramirez Claims Third Women’s Lacrosse A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week Honor

MACON, Ga. – For the third time this season, Elon women’s lacrosse goalie Rachel Ramirez has been named the Atlantic Sun’s Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week. This is also the fourth time this season and Phoenix players has earned a player of the week honor.

Ramirez tallied 21 saves last week for the Phoenix to finish with a 58.3 save percentage. The freshman picked up her fifth win of the season between the pipes after allowing only four goals, recording seven saves and a 63.6 save percentage in Elon’s 18-4 win over Presbyterian. Despite a loss to High Point, Ramirez recorded 14 saves and a 56.0 save percentage. The Lindenhurst, N.Y., native also picked up nine ground balls and caused five turnovers in Elon’s two games.

Elon will be back in action on Sunday, April 13, when it host A-Sun opponent Kennesaw State in its final home game of the season. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. against the Owls in Rhodes Stadium.
