Inside the Series
Following a 5-3 setback to North Carolina A&T earlier this season, Elon owns an all-time mark of 46-6-1 against the Aggies. The two first met in 1974 when Elon took a 7-0 victory. Prior to the first meeting this year, the Phoenix had won nine straight in the series. The last A&T win at Elon came on March 11, 2007 – a 14-9 contest.

Elon and Campbell have met 46 times on the diamond. The maroon and gold is 26-20 in those games which date to 1962. The Phoenix and Fighting Camels have not played since May 3, 2008 when Elon defeated Campbell 7-1 at Latham Park. The Phoenix has won six straight in the series. Campbell’s last win over Elon came in Buies Creek, N.C., on April 16, 2002 – a 4-3 game that went 10 innings.

Countdown to 600: 594
Already Elon’s all-time winningest coach, skipperMike Kennedy is closing in on career victory number 600. Kennedy currently has 594 wins to his credit, all in the maroon and gold.

Citadel Swept
The Phoenix completed its first three SoCon series with a 6-3 record following a three-game sweep of The Citadel Bulldogs, a team picked to place second in the league. The sweep gave Elon 13 victories in its last 14 games against the Bulldogs.

Bakker Makes You Earn It
Over a span of three starts, all wins, junior Lucas Bakker did not allowed an earned run. In fact, Bakker went 29.2 innings without allowing an earned run before giving up two to The Citadel in the opener of the series. Bakker has allowed more than one earned run in just two of his seven starts. It was the second streak of 20+ innings without allowing an earned run by an Elon pitcher in 2014. Earlier this year, junior Jake Stalzer had a streak of 23.1 innings without an earned run.

Sustained Success
Now in its 11th season in the Southern Conference, Elon has finished with one of the league’s top-three records in all but one year – 2004, its first in the league when it placed fourth. The maroon in gold is one of just nine teams nationally to have placed in the top three of its league in at least nine out of the last 10 years.
