College Women’s Soccer News – Megan Sload Named Assistant Coach at Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College Director of Athletics Tom Palombo announced the addition of Megan Sload to the Quakers’ staff as assistant women’s soccer coach Monday.

Sload comes to Guilford to assist Michael Shenigo’s team after completing a year as a volunteer assistant at Queens University of Charlotte, her alma mater. In addition to coaching at Queens, she also worked with the Charlotte United Futbol Club’s U8 Pre-Academy team. She spent her collegiate career as a member of the NCAA Division II Royals’ varsity soccer team, appearing in 67 games in which she totaled 12 goals and five assists. Sload twice earned Academic All-Conference Carolinas honors and graduated from Queens in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a minor in studio arts.

Sload graduated from Penn Manor High School in Millersville, Pa., where she competed in both soccer and powerlifting. She won the 2008 AAU Powerlifting World Championships and earned individual and team champion honors at the 2009 USA Powerlifting RAW High School Nationals.

The Quakers’ women’s soccer team finished its 2013-14 season 1-18 overall (1-11 ODAC) and expects 11 returners for the upcoming season.
