The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced its selections for the 2013-14 College Division All-State Women’s Basketball Team on Wednesday. Ten players representing nine different North Carolina Universities were named to the 2013-14 NCCSIA College Division All-State Teams.

Southeast Region Player of the Year Jazmine Charles, of Lenoir-Rhyne, heads the list and is joined by two-time first team selection Nyeshea Willie, of Barton, Wingate’s Janitsha Williams and Kayla Harris, and Salem’s Satavia Taylor.

Charles was named both the South Atlantic Conference and Daktronics NCAA Division II Southeast Region Player of the Year after helping Lenoir-Rhyne to a 24-7 record. She averaged 17.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, leading the Bears in both categories. Charles also canned a team-high 55 three-pointers as the Bears claimed a share of the SAC title.

Willie was named the Conference Carolinas Player of the Year for the second straight season after being one of the nation’s top scorers at 24.0 points per game. This year, Willie posted 20+ point scoring games 18 times and topped 30 points on five occasions. She added 5.3 rebounds per contest.

Williams, who was twice named All-SAC, was a second team All-State pick last year. She helped the Bulldogs to a 24-6 record this past season while claiming a SAC regular season co-championship and the SAC Tournament Championship. Williams averaged 15.5 points and 7.9 rebounds a game.

Harris was a first team All-SAC and All-Southeast Region selection as she averaged 17.3 points and 9.4 rebounds in leading Wingate in both categories. She was named the Most Valuable Player in the SAC Tournament. Harris hit on nearly 50% of her field goal attempts and recorded 15 double-doubles.

Taylor repeated as the Great South Player of Year in 2013-14 at Salem. She averaged 23.1 points and 9.3 rebounds in helping the Spirits to the GSC regular season and tournament titles. Taylor, who was named second team All-State last year, was named second team All-South by D3Hoops.com and helped Salem into the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The second team consists of Ansley Ricker, of Mars Hill, McKenzie Owen, of Belmont Abbey, Gabby Oglesby, of Guilford, Jasmine McDonald, of Mount Olive, and Shonice Pettaway, of Queens.

Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by the NCCSIA members.
