NCCSIA Announces 2013-14 North Carolina University Division Women’s Basketball All-State Teams

The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced its selections for the 2013-14 University Division All-State Women’s Basketball Teams on Wednesday. Ten players representing seven different North Carolina Universities were named to the 2013-14 NCCSIA University Division All-State Teams.

High Point was the only school with multiple representatives on the first team as redshirt-junior Stacia Robertson and freshman Kaylah Keys both earned a spot. Robertson was a first-team All-Big South and Big South All-Tournament team selection. She averaged 12.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.3 steals, 2.1 assists and 1.8 blocks per game. Keys was the Big South Freshman of the Year and set the HPU single-season scoring record with 583 points. She was named to the All-Big South first team, Big South All-Tournament team and Big South All-Freshman team.

Appalachian State junior forward Maryah Sydnor led the Southern Conference in scoring with 19.4 points per game to earn a spot on the first team. She was also a first-team All-Southern Conference selection. Catrina Green, a senior center from Gardner-Webb, collected All-State honors. This season she became the first player in GWU’s Div. I era to reach 1,000 career points and rebounds and she was named second-team All-Big South. East Carolina redshirt-sophomore forward Jada Payne rounds out the NCCSIA All-State first team. She led ECU in scoring (18.4 ppg) and rebounding (7.5 rpg). The first-team All-Conference USA selection also contributed 55 assists and 46 steals.

The NCCSIA All-State second team is comprised of Campbell’s Kiera Gaines and Roslyn Presley, UNC Greensboro’s Janae’ Stevenson, UNC Wilmington’s Kelva Atkins and East Carolina’s Abria Trice.

Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by the NCCSIA members.

Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
