COMMENTS Eastern Alamance’s Robinson named to all-state team By Times-News http://www.thetimesnews.com April 2, 2014 17:52 Eastern Alamance senior point guard Lamont Robinson was named to the all-state team by The Associated Press for the second straight season.
Robinson, who signed with Mount St. Mary’s in the fall, averaged 25 points, seven assists and 4.4 rebounds per game this past season. He crossed the 2,000-point plateau for his career and finished with the second-most points for a career in school history — to JamesOn Curry, who’s the state’s all-time top scorer with 3,308 points.
Robinson finished with 2,290 points for his career.
The four-year starter for the Eagles was instrumental in guiding Eastern Alamance to a share of the Mid-State 3-A Conference title. Robinson averaged more than twice as many points as Eastern Alamance’s second-leading scorer (Malcolm Summers).
With 195 assists, Robinson set the school’s single-season record in that category.
Robinson is one of three players on the all-state team to be a repeat selection, joining Clayton’s Gary Clark, who has signed with Cincinnati, and Shelby’s Gabe DeVoe.
DeVoe, a Clemson recruit, was the only unanimous selection. Clark and Kinston’s Brandon Ingram, a junior who has drawn major Division I interest, were both one vote shy of being unanimous picks.
North Carolina commit Theo Pinson, a forward from High Point Wesleyan, also was on the team.
Robinson received 16 of a possible 25 votes.

On the girls’ side, West Craven’s Jaime Cherry was the only unanimous pick. Greensboro Page’s Paris Kea made the team for the second straight season.
Repeat selections for the girls’ team were Cherry, Kea, Charlotte Providence Day’s Jatarie White and Catawba Bandys’ Madi Story.

  • SA said,

    Was Shay name submitted?

  • Ron said,

Miller from McDowell kind of came out of nowhere due to growing a few inches over the Summer and going the personal trainer route with limited AAU ball, although he did play a little with Forest City Heat, which featured DeVoe. He is hoping to gain the interest of a few more schools in the late period before making a decision. In my opinion, he is easily the most improved of the All-State team and will make a college program happy with his knowledge of the game and versatility.

  • who? said,

any truth to the rumor that the Page boys coach resigned?

  • changing schools said,

What is this rumor that several of the Page players may leave and go to a private school next year ? If the rumor is true, does anyone know where some of these kids are going next year ?

  • Andy Durham said,

Don’t see any players leaving Page right now, but there could be some other changes in the works…

  • rumblings said,

I have heard a familiar face could return to Page. If it happens, watch out. Have heard nothing about kids leaving.
