College Women’s Lacrosse News – Guilford’s Garcia Named ODAC Player of the Week

FOREST, Va. – Guilford College’s E’leyna Garcia (Plantation, Fla./Pine Coast Prep) earned the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s (ODAC) Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week Award Monday. Now a five-time award winner in her career, she joins teammate Lily Colley, who won the three previous weekly honors, as Guilford recipients of the prize this season.

Garcia, a 5-10 senior attacker, paced the Quakers with 11 points on eight goals and three assists in the Quakers’ 2-0 week. She scored a game-high eight points on six goals and two assists in Guilford’s 15-10 league win at Roanoke College April 2. Garcia, who also had two ground balls in the win, tallied four times in the decisive second half, which saw Guilford outscore the hosts, 9-4. She tallied twice and added an assist in the Quakers’ 12-7 league win at Bridgewater College April 5. Garcia also had a game-high four draw controls in the match.

After 11 games, Garcia ranks ninth in NCAA Division III with an ODAC-best 54 goals. She stands seventh nationally in goals per game (4.91) and 10th in points (69). Garcia has scored in all 11 games this season, extending her school-record goal-scoring streak to 63 games. She ranks 18th nationally and third in the league with 6.00 draw controls per outing. Her 15 assists stand 10th in the league.

The Quakers’ career scoring leader, Garcia has moved into fifth place on the ODAC’s career scoring list with 327 career points and her 255 goals stand fourth in league history.
