GC Softball Finishes Season With 2-1 Defeat

ROCKY MOUNT, NC—The Greensboro College Pride softball team returned to action on Saturday afternoon against the Lions of Piedmont College. The Pride fell in the elimination contest 2-1.

Greensboro College got two runners in scoring position in the top half of the first inning, but the Pride could not push a runner across the plate. In the bottom half of the first inning, the Lions were able to score their only two runs of the game.

The score remained 2-0, until Greensboro College was able to get on the board in the top half of the sixth inning of play. Sarah Connolly came sliding across home plate following a strike out by Madison Crisco making the score 2-1. The Pride was not able to tie the game falling 2-1.

Allyson Yeager collected two of Greensboro’s two hits on the day, while Alexis Hall and Sarah Connolly also collected one hit a piece. Shelby Drummonds took the loss in the circle for Greensboro pitching three innings while giving up four hits.

With the loss, the Pride closes their 2014 season at 20-19.
