GREENSBORO, N.C. – Rebecca Reyna set Guilford College’s school record in the 800-meter run and the Quakers’ 4×100 relay also set a school standard Saturday at the Aggie Invitational, hosted by North Carolina A&T State University. The meet featured some 800 runners from colleges and universities up and down the east coast.
Reyna placed 22nd in the 41-runner field with a time of two minutes, 30.32 seconds, which was nearly two seconds faster than teammate Jasmine O’Neill’s mark set at the 2012 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships. Reyna and O’Neill both ran legs on Guilford’s first 4×400 relay team, which was clocked in 14th place in 4:27.92.
O’Neill also ran a leg on the record-setting 4×100 relay, which placed 15th among 17 schools in 54.29 seconds. Kaylea Trogdon, Khadija Carr and Sydney MacDonald also helped lower the former school standard of 54.51 seconds set at the 2013 ODAC Championships.
Trogdon’s leap of 4.53 meters in the long jump is the second-longest in school history. She finished in 22nd place among 31 contestants.
O’Neill and teammate Tess Stryk posted the fourth and fifth-best 400 times in school history. O’Neill, who owns the record of 1:06.21, ran a season-low 1:06.65 Saturday and took home 36th among 44 runners. Stryk came across in 39th place with a personal best time of 1:07.31.

College Men’s Track & Field Results – Guilford Competes at the Aggie Invitational
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College’s men’s 4×100-meter relay team posted the second-fastest time in school history Saturday at the Aggie Invitational, hosted by North Carolina A&T State University. The meet featured more than 800 student-athletes from colleges and universities up and down the East coast.
Guilford’s team of Joe Mitchell, C.J. Green, Jonathan Sumner and Clarence Turpin placed 12th in 16-team field with a time of 44.37 seconds, just 0.22 off the mark the group set last week at the VertKlasse Meeting. Mitchell had Guilford’s best times in the 100 and 200 races Saturday, clocking 11.14 seconds in the 100 to finish 25th in the 58-man field. He was 41st of 77 in the 200 with a time of 22.66 seconds.
Emmanuel Williams posted a career-best long jump of 6.26 meters that stands sixth in school history and ranked 15th among 23 contestants in Saturday’s meet. Guilford’s 4×400 relay team of Sumner, Andris Goncarovs, Chad Norton and Turpin had the Quakers’ sixth-fastest mark in school history with a time of 3:30.09.
Freshman Ben Berenfield had his second-best college discus throw with a mark of 30.07 meters that is seventh all-time at Guilford. He finished 18th in the 28-man field.
Coach Danny Cash’s Quakers are back in action April 18-19 at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Roanoke College.
