NINETY SIX, S.C. – The High Point University women’s golf team is in third place after the first round of the Big South Conference Championship at The Patriot at Grand Harbor in Ninety Six, S.C. Junior Grier Bennett led the Panthers with a even-par 72 and it tied for fifth after 18 holes.

“Campbell played an amazing round,” said head coach Vici Pate Flesher. “We can only control what we do and I am happy with a 310. Grier hit the ball well and had a solid day. Nothing we did was spectacular but it was good enough to keep us in the top three. If we clean up some of the little things tomorrow we will have a great round.”

High Point sits in third place behind Campbell (278) and Coastal Carolina (297). As a team the Panthers carded a 301. Campbell’s Louise Latorre is the leader after day one with a 68.
