SoCon Women’s Tennis Postseason Awards Announced

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced its 2014 postseason awards today, April 14, and the Elon University women’s tennis team placed its three seniors on the all-conference teams while Jordan Johnston and Barbora Lazarova were named to the second-team all-SoCon doubles team.

Johnston was the only player to be named to the first team, as the senior went 11-8 this season from the No. 1 singles spot. She went 6-3 in SoCon play on the way to earning the first-team all-SoCon honor for the third year in a row.

Elon’s other two seniors — Frida Jansaker and Bryn Khoury — placed on the all-SoCon second team, which was selected by position. Jansaker earned the No. 2 position after going 14-3 throughout the season, including posting a perfect 9-0 mark in conference play. Currently, Jansaker is riding a seven-match winning streak and is 14-1 in her last 15 matches.

Though moving up to No. 3 singles periodically throughout the season, Khoury took home the second-team all-SoCon honor in the No. 4 position after posting an overall mark of 13-5, including a 7-3 mark at No. 4 singles. Khoury is also riding a six-match winning streak while winning 11 of her last 13 singles matches.

Khoury and Jansaker were both on the second-team all-SoCon last season as well.

Earning second-team all-SoCon honors, Johnston and Lazarova earned the No. 1 position on the team after going 8-4 throughout the season and 6-3 in SoCon play.

Elon will head to Chattanooga, Tenn. this week as the No. 4 seed in the SoCon Tournament and will face No. 5 UNC Greensboro on Thursday, April 17, at 1 p.m.
