Ikenna Smart, class of 2014, has signed a letter of intent to play with coach Bobby Hurley at Buffalo next year.
Ikenna, who immigrated from Nigeria, has become the first New Garden Friends basketball player to average a double-double;not only for this season, but for his entire two-year career with the Bears. Ikenna currently ranks #7 in the state in total rebounds and #8 in the state in rebounds per game.
Ikenna and his younger brother, Osi, live with Cinda and Nick Purrington of Liberty.
Ikenna works hard on and off the basketball court, not only to tackle his academic work, but also in the visual and performing arts arenas as well as school service and community events. He is a true athlete, leader, and friend.
