Game Reports on Ragsdale-Pinecrest and Ragsdale-Wilson Hunt baseball:Tigers take second at the tournament

Ragsdale was in Wilson on Wednesday to participate in the rain-shortened Golden Leaf Invitational baseball tournament played at historic Fleming Stadium.

In the first game, Pinecrest scored 4 runs in the first and went on to record a 10-3 win. Kennan Lynn got the start and was charged with the loss. Niko Orfanedes was 2 for 4 in the defeat, while Ben Fischer was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Connor Burrows was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s

In the second game, Ragsdale scored 7 runs in the first and wrapped up a 12-1 win in 5 innings over Wilson Hunt. Connor Burrows went the distance to pick up the win, giving up 7 hits and striking out 4. Avery Hodges went 3 for 3 with a double and 4 RBI’s. Matt Horkey was 3 for 4 with an RBI.

Horkey, Burrows and Hodges were named to the All-Tournament team. Niko Orfanedes won the Sportsmanship Award.

Ragsdale was awarded the Second Place trophy in the seven team tournament on the basis of a tie-breaker. Pinecrest won the tournament.

  1. Thanks Mike. Best thing I read in all that is Horkey did not pitch. Great call to rest him. Non-conference games and it gives him a break. Chance for others to grow as well.
