Jack Sides Shoots 76 To Lead HPU Men’s Golf At Big South Tournament

NINETY SIX, S.C. – Freshman Jack Sides carded a 76 to lead the High Point University men’s golf on team on the second day of the Big South Conference Tournament at the Patriot at Grand Harbor in Ninety Six, S.C.

As a team High Point posted a 332 and is in 10th place heading in to the final round of the tournament. Liberty took over the team lead with a 293 on Tuesday. Coastal Carolina is in second with Charleston Southern rounding out the top three. CSU’s David Denlinger is the individual leader with a 139 (66-73).

“This was a very disappointing day,” said head coach Greg Flesher. “Jack Sides was a bright spot with another solid round. He is having a good tournament. I am also proud of the team for continuing to carry themselves well despite the scores. We will reevaluate tonight and try to finish the season strong tomorrow.”

Sides carded a 76 for the second-straight day to lead the Panthers with a 152. He is tied for 23rd in the individual standings, moving up five spots during the second round.

Alex Thompson and McKay Tye are one stroke apart. Thompson posted an 85 on Tuesday and has a 26-hole score of 162. Tye is one stroke back with a 163 after two days. He carded an 83 in the second round.

Tommy Dillon shot an 88 on Tuesday to bring his 36-hole score to 170. LJ Georgetti rounds out the scores with a 181 (88-93).
