College Men’s Golf Results – Guilford, Washington and Lee Lead After 18 Holes of ODAC Championship

CONOVER, N.C. – Guilford College and Washington and Lee University both shot 312 Sunday to share the lead after 18 holes of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men’s Golf Championships. Hampden-Sydney College’s Brian Burt shot a one-over-par 73 to take the individual lead in the 50-man field.

The league’s 10 teams are playing their 54-hole championship at the Rock Barn Golf and Spa Resort. The teams played the par-72, 6,944-yard Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Course Sunday under sunny skies with a light breeze and temperatures in the low 80s.

Guilford, the three-time defending league champions, teed off in the first group and was led by freshman Tanner Gross, who shot a three-over 75 for a share of second place. Senior teammate Dallas Page overcame a triple-bogey seven on the first hole to finish with a four-over 76, which sits fourth on the individual leader board. Freshman Ty Palmer had a team-high four birdies, but also had eight bogeys and shares seventh place at 79.

Cody Solomon paced Washington and Lee with a round of 75 that featured two birdies on the back nine. Teammate Conley Hurst birdied the 18th hole to come home with a five-over 77, which shares fifth place among individuals. Taylor Stagg also birdied the par-five 18th and shot 79, good for seventh place.

Shenandoah University’s Doc Schulte carded a 77 and Brennan Lloyd had a 79, which helped the Hornets shoot 325 as a team and occupy third place. Hampden-Sydney benefited from Burt’s 73 as well as Rick O’Connell’s 80 to shoot 330. The Tigers are in fourth place, six strokes in front of Bridgewater College.

The tournament continues Monday with 18 holes scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m.
