Former Elon Baseball Pitcher Medick Selected First in Frontier League Draft

SAUGET, Ill. – Former Elon Phoenix pitcher Spencer Medick was selected by the Frontier Greys as the first overall pick in the 2014 Frontier League draft.

Medick, a lefty from Alexandria, Va., completed his Elon career by helping the Phoenix reach its first NCAA Division I Regional final in 2013. As a senior, Medick went 7-7 with a 4.80 ERA over 17 appearances, 12 of which were starts. He logged 95.2 inning and struck out 75 hitters while issuing just 24 walks.

In his two seasons in the maroon and gold, Medick posted a 9-10 record over 171.0 innings. He tallied 147 strikeouts and walked only 45 hitters.

The Greys finished the 2013 season with a 33-62 record and will open their 2014 campaign on Friday, May 16 against the Windy City ThuderBolts in Crestwood, Ill. The Frontier Greys as the league’s traveling team.

The Frontier League is the oldest currently running independent league in the nation and was formed in 1993.
