College Men’s Lacrosse News – Guilford Places Four on All-ODAC Team

FOREST, Va. – Four Guilford College student-athletes collected All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men’s lacrosse honors as determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches, the league office announced last Friday. Adam Fiore collected second team All-ODAC honors with Thomas Deane, Matt Dunbar, and Rufus Terry earning third team honors.

Fiore, a 6-2, 170 pound sophomore, finished second in the ODAC in assists in conference play (19). The attacker finished in a tie for fourth in points (37) in conference games.

Fiore finished 2014 second in the ODAC overall in assists (42), the second-best single-season mark in program history. Fiore’s 75 points stood fourth in the league, the fifth-best single-season total in Guilford history. Fiore’s shot percentage (.508) stood atop the ODAC among active attackers and 15th in NCAA Division III. Fiore also ranked eighth nationally in assists per game (2.80), and tenth in points per game (5.00).

The sophomore attacker finished 2014 strong, totaling 27 points on 12 goals and 15 assists in the season’s final three games. Fiore collected two double-digit point efforts, scoring four or more goals in a game four times. The attacker scored in all but three games in 2014.

Deane, a 6-0, 195 pound junior, finished conference play with 114 saves, good for second in the league in the statistical category for conference games only. The junior goaltender finished the conference season with a 10.44 goals against average and a 55.6% save percentage.

Overall, Deane finished with the league lead in save percentage (59.8%). His 8.63 goals against average overall stands fourth in the ODAC as does his 177 saves.

Deane collected 10 or more saves in all but three games in 2014. The junior collected a season-high 20 saves against Shenandoah April 19th, surpassing his previous season-high set March 10th against Greensboro (19), where he also picked up a season-high six ground balls.

Dunbar, a 6-1, 200 pound senior, collected a season-high five caused turnovers March 5th against Farmingdale State. The senior defender followed up that effort with a season-high four ground balls against Greensboro March 10th. Dunbar’s 18 caused turnovers stands 13th in the ODAC overall, contributing to the team’s 8.91 goals against average, the best in program history.

Terry, a 5-11, 195 pound freshman long stick midfielder, finished the season with six goals and one assist. Terry collected two goals for his lone multi-goal game of the year March 5th against Farmingdale State. The long stick midfielder collected four ground balls on six separate occaisions during the season, finishing the season third on the team in ground balls (39). His 15 caused turnovers also ranked third on the team. Terry is one of only two freshmen in the conference to earn any All-ODAC men’s lacrosse honor in 2014.

The four Quakers that earned All-ODAC are the most in the program’s history for a single season. Coach Tom Carmean’s squad finished 2014 with a 9-6 overall record (3-6 ODAC) and is slated to return as many as 38 student-athletes for the 2015 season.
