Dan Hauser Introduced As New HPU Athletic Director

HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University President Nido R. Qubein introduced Dan Hauser as the new HPU Athletic Director in a formal press conference on Wednesday at the Wilson Family School of Commerce. Hauser spent the last eight years as Senior Associate Athletic Director at Ohio University.

“Our athletic department is strong, successful and championship oriented,” said Qubein. “It has been founded on pillars of excellence and the future will continue to be remarkable and wonderful.

“We welcome Dan Hauser to the High Point University family. He comes with significant experience and was highly recommended. I have no doubt that he will take very seriously the responsibility of this position and lead our staff and student-athletes to great accomplishments.”

Originally from North Carolina, Hauser spent seven years at Wake Forest prior to his time at Ohio.

“I am truly honored and thrilled to be the Athletic Director at High Point University,” said Hauser. “I am thrilled to join this team today. High Point University is a special place and this is a dream position for me. HPU is positioned to achieve championship success at the highest level. We are going to dream big and believe in hanging banners and hoisting trophies.”

Hauser will begin his appointment at HPU on July 1.

At Ohio, Hauser oversees marketing and promotions, ticket operations, media relations and the Ohio Bobcat Sports Network (video and radio). In addition, he serves as the athletic department liaison for IMG College, Licensing Resource Group, and AVI Concessions. He is sport administrator for women’s soccer, women’s swimming & diving, men’s cross country, women’s cross country and track & field and is postseason administrator for football and basketball.

Under Hauser’s leadership, Ohio Athletics made unprecedented gains in ticket sales, attendance, sponsorship sales, merchandising, and revenue generation. Ohio led the Mid American Conference in attendance for football, volleyball, men’s basketball, women’s soccer, field hockey and softball in 2013.

Hauser led the marketing, promotions and ticket sales at Wake Forest. He was the Assistant Director of Marketing at the University of New Mexico form 1996-98.

Hauser earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education in 1992 and a master’s degree in sports management in 1996 from Appalachian State University. He and his wife Samantha have two children, Covington (eight) and Whit (five).
