Elon’s Khoury Earns ITA Women’s Tennis Sportsmanship and Leadership Award

ELON, N.C. – Bryn Khoury, one of the three seniors on the Elon University women’s tennis team, was honored today, May 13, by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) with the ITA/Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sportsmanship & Leadership award for the Carolina region.

Each year, the award is given to one male and female player in each of the 12 ITA regions. The award honors players who showed outstanding sportsmanship and leadership, paired with scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements.

This season, Khoury went 14-6 throughout her final season with the Phoenix. The senior from Greenville, N.C. also went 8-1 during the regular season in Southern Conference action. For her efforts this season, she was named to the second-team all-conference squad on April 14.

At last night’s Elon athletics banquet, Khoury was honored as the female recipient of the Robert C. Browne Memorial Sportsmanship Award, which is presented annually to one male and one female athlete at Elon who best displays exemplary qualities of sportsmanship, which is determined by the Elon Department of Athletics administrative staff. Khoury also earned the team’s Heart and Hustle Award from coach Elizabeth Anderson.
