HPCA tops Metrolina Christian Academy in back-and-forth affair, 5-3

HPCA outlasted Metrolina Christian Academy on Tuesday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 5-3 win.

HPCA finally managed to grab the lead after a strong seventh inning. HPCA went up for good on an RBI single by Kirstin Hart off Hannah Gordon, scoring Ashlyn Kennedy.

Grace Young had a hot bat for HPCA. Grace went 2-4 and scored one run. She singled in the fourth and sixth innings.

Ashlyn was a workhorse on the rubber for HPCA. Ashlyn pitched seven innings and allowed three earned runs, five hits and four walks while striking out five.

The top of the first saw HPCA take an early lead, 1-0. Sloane McPeak kicked things off for HPCA with a single.

It didn’t take long for Metrolina Christian Academy to answer as it scored two runs of its own in the first. Metrolina Christian Academy scored on a passed ball and a groundout by Kaylie Nestor.
