With three hits in four at bats, NC State catcher Brett Austin notched his league-leading 25th multi-hit game and raised his season batting average from .336 to .344 – good for third in the ACC behind Florida State’s D.J. Stewart (.362) and Maryland’s Brandon Lowe (.345).

North Carolina left fielder Parks Jordan extended his hitting streak to 13 games in a row.

North Carolina’s bullpen of Zach Rice, Trevor Kelley, Spencer Traynor and Trent Thornton combined for 5 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing only two hits with nine strikeouts … with two innings of hitless relief, Thornton picks up his first save of the year and the ninth of his career.
