Steve Wilkerson’s RBI single with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning keyed fifth-seeded Clemson past top-seeded Miami 3-2, and gave Tiger head coach Jack Leggett his 1,300th career victory.

The win snapped the Tigers’ six-game losing streak to the Hurricanes … Clemson is 7-8 on the year in one-run games while Miami is 13-3.

Miami is 13-17 all-time in ACC Tournament play with one title while Clemson is 105-65 with nine championships.

Thursday’s game marked the 89th meeting between the two teams … Miami leads the overall series 52-36 with two ties.

Miami’s Jim Morris (1,431) and Clemson’s Jack Leggett (1,300) have combined for 2,731 career wins … Morris is fourth among active NCAA wins leaders while Leggett is fifth.

In three career starts against Miami, Clemson’s Daniel Gossett is 1-0 with a 1.11 ERA … in 24 1/3 innings versus the Hurricanes, the Lyman, S.C., junior has allowed only three earned runs on 17 hits while striking out 31.

  1. I think the score was 3-2 Clemson. Tigers scored in the 9th on a walk and 2 hits. Diaz for Miami struggled a little tonight but got a no decision. Gossett for the Tigers pitched his but off . Great game tonight. Leggett also made some great coaching moves.

  2. Yes, not sure where that 1 came from initially, but it was the 3-2 Clemson instead of the old 3-1 Tigers…

    Time to get it ready and we need to get behind those Tigers and pull them on through toward the Tiger Title…

    Need to see and hear those Tiger fans at full force at around 3pm on Friday afternoon….

    Will be pulling hard for Weston Wilson from WEG…
