2014 NCAA Baseball Playoffs begin today:Tobias and Butler will battle, Brock Hudgens, Carter Williams and more

Among the games today involving ACC teams and there are 7 of them in action and there is one game that will have local interest and that will be the College of Charleston Cougars vs. the Florida Gators in Gainesville, at 7pm…More on that and more coming, but first we will run down your ACC teams in action today…

North Carolina vs. Long Beach State 1pm Gainesville, Florida
Old Dominion vs. Maryland 1pm Columbia, South Carolina
Clemson vs. Oregon 1pm Nashville, Tennessee
Bucknell vs. Virginia 2pm Charlottesville, Virginia
Georgia Tech vs. Washington 4pm Oxford, Mississippi
Georgia Southern vs. Florida State 6pm Tallahassee, Florida
Bethune-Cookman vs. Miami 7pm Coral Gables, Florida

Also:Campbell vs. South Carolina 7pm Columbia, South Carolina

In that Florida-College of Charleston game you will have Josh Tobias, from Southeast Guilford HS, starting at third base for the Gators and Blake Butler, from Southeast Guilford, starting at second base for the Cougars….Two former Falcon teammates going at it against each other, tonight in Gainesville…Butler at .288 on the year and Tobias at .285 in batting….Both young men with 3 HR’s each and Butler leads COC with 68 hits…

Game ought to be a hit with local viewers at 7pm on ESPN…Best of luck to both Josh and Blake in the NCAA baseball playoffs…Followed both of their careers closely while they were at SEG….

If you want to watch a Josh Tobias protege keep an eye on the Northeast Guilford Rams’ SS Carter Williams…Carter will be a good college catch for some team one day and he has molded much of his game after what Josh did at SEG and at Florida and not a bad example to follow, when it comes to hard work and discipline….Keep an ear to ground and an eye wide-open, when it comes to Williams…

Talking about hard work and discipline, that seems to be the motto of Brock Hudgens, out of Southwest Guilford High School and Charlotte/UNC-Charlotte…It is hard to get UNC-Charlotte out of most people’s minds and it is hard to get Brock Hudgens off of your mind when you stop and think how hard this kid has been working to make it to the professional baseball level…Brock will not stop…He has heard from four teams and is talking hard with them and it looks like he will be ready to sign with somebody come mid-June/late Jue….There have been very serious talks and they want this college-proven young pitcher and he wants to go pro real bad and we we feel like he will get his shot to make it…I don’t want to throw the names of the four teams that are talking to Brock out here right now, but I will when I have had a chance to clear all that up with Brock, or his dad Lee…Do want to be certain I have all four teams names correct and when Brock signs, we will fill you in, just after he fills his name in with the MLB club…The kid has worked hard traveling all over the country at times, to keep his game alive during the season and during the Summers and soon he will be joining the ‘Boys of Summer’ at a field near somebody…Keep that dream ALIVE, Brock Hudgens…..
