Southeast Guilford Junior Legion Baseball team wins, but they also lose:Bartley down and he could be out

Junior Legion Baseball Final from Monday night at Southeast Guilford High School:
Southeast Guilford 8
Winston-Salen Trojans 6

WP:Thorne Alley
Hold:Cameron Heath
SV:Chris Schieevly

*****SEG wins, but they also lose when catcher/DH Devin Bartley goes down with a bad hip and messed up leg after sliding head first into second base, during the Bottom of the 6th Inning at tonight’s game…”Everything was going great this season for Devin until he broke for second” and this may have led to a broken hip or possibly a broken leg for Bartley, currently an eighth-grade student at Southeast Guilford Middle School….That is the word on Monday night according to Southeast Guilford Junior Legion baseball business manager Charles Pannell….”Devin went down and this could be a huge loss for out team”, said Pannell…..”Bartley was having a such a super sesson with home runs, ground-rule doubles, he was gettting on base every possible way a kid could” and you hate to see his baseball season end like this and that might just be the end result….Pannell pasued and he had to also relay the news that the EMT’s were called in and Bartley was then transported to the local hospital and though we do not have verification on this part/piece of the puzzle at this time, you lean toward and get the feeling, that Bartley would have ended up at Moses Cone Hospital….

Not a good night for SEG baseball, as the loss of Bartley overshadowed the excellent win that the SEG Junior Legion boys gained over one of the best teams that Forsyth County could put on the field, in this talented team of WS Trojans….The Trojans came to SEG with kids from WS Reagan, West Forsyth, WS Reynolds plus Mount Tabor and they were just about the hottest team around, before they ran into the SEG buzzsaw tonight…

SEG will recover from the loss of Bartley, but there is no doubt his spot in the lineup will be hard to replace….

Southeast will be back in action all week long and for those who don’t feel like they can hang on, it might be time to get off the ride…This sort of schedule is not for the faint of heart and now is the time for all SEG Junior Legion players to step up and be counted….

More details to follow and we hope you all will keep that kid, Devin Bartley, in your prayers tonight…We wish to him, a quick road to recovery…..
