Charlie Harville Memorial Scholarship Recipients Recognized on Friday night at NewBridge Bank Park(Shutt, Cox, Massey and Orfanedes)

The Charlie Harville Memorial Scholarship recipients were recognized on Friday night at NewBridge Bank Park, prior to the Greensboro Grasshoppers game, with the Hagerstown Suns….Each scholarship is valued at $1,000 and four were distributed this evening…..

On field recognition for Kara Shutt….Kara is graduating from Southeast Guilford High School with a 4.5 GPA. Kara played softball, basketball and volleyball all four years while in high school…During her career, she has been selected to the first team All-Conference, All-District, and All-State teams.sHI..She is a member of the National Honor Society and has volunteered for a number of volunteer groups…Kara plans on attending Elon University in the Fall and would like to work as a college coach or athletic director….

Ruth Cox….Ruth is graduating from Grimsley High School with a 5.1 GPA…Ruth played softball all four years while in school, was selected to the All-Conference team in 2014 and MVP of her team in 2014…She is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honors Society…She is also the Vice President of the Student Human Relations Commission…Ruth plans on attending UNC-Chapel Hill this Fall and would eventually like to become an obstetrician….

Zach Massey….Zach is graduating from Grimsley High School with a 5.2 GPA…Zach played baseball all four years while in school, was selected to the All-Conference team in 2013 and was team captain during the 2014 season….Zach was a Junior Marshall and has received countless academic awards while at Grimsley…He has also devoted numerous hours volunteering with the Beth David Religous School…Zach plans on attending the University of Virginia to study Mechanical Engineering……

Nikolas Orfanedes….Nico is graduating from Ragsdale High School with a 4.7 GPA….Nico played baseball all four years while in school, was selected to the All-Conference team in 2013 and was team captain in 2014…Nico was a Junior Marshall and a member of the National Honor Society as well as his Student Body Vice President….Nico has also volunteered his time assisting the Jamestown Youth League and Greensboro Urban Ministries…..Nico plans on attending the University of South Carolina and would like to work as a sports agent or in sports communications…..
