MONDAY MORNING POST ON THE AMERICAN LEGION POSTS’ BASEBALL TEAMS
Post 8 Davidson County 5, South Rowan 3….
Standouts for DC 8 included pitchers Colson Everett and Tyler Sellars….
from Jason Queen at the Lexington Times-Dispatch:
Davidson County American Legion Post 8 didn’t score 18 runs against Southern Rowan on Friday.
The Warriors didn’t have to.
One night after whipping Post 185 18-7 in China Grove, Post 8 got strong pitching performances from Colson Everett and Tyler Sellers to hold off South Rowan 5-3 Friday night at Holt-Moffitt Field. The Warriors scored five runs in the first three innings, then turned things over to Everett and Sellers.
Everett threw a lot of pitches over five innings, and left with a 5-3 lead. Sellers was sensational in picking up the four-inning save, striking out five and working his way out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the seventh. “He pitched a great game,” Post 8 coach Dale Moser said. “He played at a small school, Union Grove, and he didn’t always get to pitch in tight games with a lot of people, game on the radio. And I think he lives for that moment.
“He really stepped up big for us tonight.”
