Locals go loco(Wild) in Round 31 of the MLB Draft:Luis Paula(NEG/UNC) joins Hudgens(SWG) and Thompson(SA) as young men on the move

Good to see Luis Paula(Northeast Guilford High School) join the list of our locals, taken in Round 31 of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft…Good job Luis, saw you on the field in Greensboro for the ACC Tournament with the Tar Heels and now maybe we will see you back in Greensboro soon with the West Virginia Power, maybe coming to town to face the Greensboro Grasshoppers at NewBridge Bank Park….You never know, in downtown Greensboro, the skyline is the limit….Go for it….Miguel(Paula) and your mom are very proud of your accomplishments, as are all the families watching their kids names show up on the pro lists…Lee Hudgens and others feeling mighty proud today too….

*****Another local player taken in the 31st Round by the San Diego Padres back in 2011 was Clint Moore(Grimsley HS/Army) and really not sure where Clint is these days….
from the Times-Hearald:
Clint Moore might be the best baseball player in West Point/Army history. Moore, a shortstop, finished his career as the academy’s all-time leader in home runs (35), RBI (185), doubles (51) and runs scored (174). Army coach Joe Sottolano said Moore is one of the best defensive players that he’s had in his 12 years.

So it came as somewhat of a surprise that Moore wasn’t taken until the 31st round of baseball’s first-year player draft(2011) by the San Diego Padres on Wednesday.

“I feel like I can play with anyone in the country,” said Moore, who had 11 homers and 48 RBI this season. “I have confidence. To be picked in the 31st round? Get me out there, start playing and we’ll see how the cards fall.”

Moore said he will report to the Padres’ minicamp on Friday in Phoenix. He could be headed to Eugene (Ore.) in the Class A Northwest League.

“I can play the short season until it ends,” Moore said. “Then I will be a grad assistant at West Point for six months before I go off to my military commitments.”

*****As of late last year, Clint Moore had completed his military assignment.******

  1. Crazy to think how fast 8-10 years goes by. I first started training these kids when they were 11-12 years old. Great kids and great families! Congratulations boys way to keep up the SIXTH TOOL PROGRAM tradition! Look forward to this off-season! Twitter @castXXXV Facebook Carolina Acceleration
