HiToms Bats Stymied in Home Loss

THOMASVILLE, N.C. – Manny Arciniega spun seven shutout innings as the Edenton Steamers defeated the High Point-Thomasville HiToms on Friday, 4-0.

The league-best Steamers (10-4) came into Thomasville on a three-game losing streak, but struck first in the top of the second inning scoring three runs on two bases-loaded wild pitches and a RBI groundout. In the top of the third, Edenton capped its scoring for the night with a Michael Perez RBI single. The HiToms only mustered four hits offensively.

It was all the offense Edenton starter Manny Arciniega needed (2-1) as the right-hander went seven shutout innings and struck out seven while only allowing three hits. HiToms starter Matthew Milburn (so., Wofford – 2-1) was saddled with the loss as he allowed four earned runs in six innings of work.

The HiToms (6-7) hit the road Saturday as they take on the Forest City Owls at McNair Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 P.M.
