Grasshopper Domingo German Named To All-Star Futures Game

Greensboro, N.C. – The Greensboro Grasshoppers are pleased to announce that Domingo German has been selected to represent the Miami Marlins and the Greensboro Grasshoppers in the 2014 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game.

German will travel to Target Field in Minneapolis to participate in the July 13th game. The annual game is in its 16th year and features the top Minor League prospects.

“I never thought I would make the World team,” German said. “It’s a surprise for me. I am so happy; I have been working hard all year.”

With the selection, German will be one of nine representatives from the Dominican Republic playing for the World Team. This is the second all-star accolade this season for German as he was one of six Grasshoppers selected to play in the South Atlantic League All-Star Game.

In 15 starts this season, German has compiled a 7-2 record with a 2.28 ERA while holding opposing batters to just a .258 batting average. German has just 14 walks in 83 innings pitched while striking out 76. During the Grasshoppers 10-game winning streak to close out the first-half of the South Atlantic League season, German went 2-0 while earning the win in the playoff clinching win.

“It’s exciting, all of the people in the Dominican Republic will get to watch me on television,” German said. “It’s an awesome opportunity.”

The 21-year-old German joins two other Grasshoppers in Jose Fernandez (2012) and Chris Coghlan (2007) to participate in the Futures Game while playing for the Grasshoppers.
