Post 81 Eastern Randolph Key Quotes on the Tommy Michaels'(Southeast Guilford HS) pitching effort(9 Inning/Complete Game) from the Asheboro Courier-Tribune:

“I felt a little tired in the fourth or fifth, but after that I felt good,” Michaels said. “I got into a groove. Right now, I feel like I could pitch a whole other game.”

“Early in the game, we weren’t going to throw Tommy more than seven,” manager Jerry Kidd said. “By the seventh and eighth, his pitch count wasn’t that bad. I asked him what the high-water mark was and he was well under it. You could tell he wanted the ball and he’d earned the right to go out there and see if he could finish it.”

“It was what I expected in this series,” Randolph County coach Ronnie Pugh said. “Michaels pitched a good game. He threw strikes. We got a lot of leadoff batters on, but we didn’t get them in. Give him credit — it was his job to stop us.”
