GC’s Nicholson Named To NCCSIA All-State Softball Second Team

The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced its selections for the 2014 College Division All-State Softball Teams. Twenty-three student-athletes representing nine different North Carolina universities and colleges were named to the 2014 NCCSIA College Division All-State Softball Teams.

Greensboro College junior Jackie Nicholson was named to the second team all-state. Nicholson finished her junior season with the Pride leading Greensboro with a .425 batting average. In her 120 at bats during the 2014 season, Nicholson recorded 51 hits including 10 doubles, two triples, and three home runs. Nicholson also appeared in nine games in the pitching circle picking up one complete game win while recording 11 strikeouts.

Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and selected by the NCCSIA members.

Founded in 2002, the NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.

NCCSSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, softball and baseball.
