HPU Women’s Golf Has Three Named To WGCA All-American Scholar Team

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Three members of the High Point University women’s golf team were selected to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar team for the 2013-14 season. Sophomore Tan Cheeranont made the team for the second-straight year while freshmen Danielle Fuss and Sarah Bae were named to the team this season.

In her sophomore season, Cheeranont posted a stroke average of 79.14 with two top-10 finishes. Fuss was HPU’s top finisher at the Big South Tournament with a ninth place finish. She posted a 78.19 stroke average with four top-10 finishes on the year. Bae was named the Big South Freshman of the Year and led the team with a 74.57 stroke average and two tournament wins.

This is the fifth-straight year that High Point has had a women’s golfer honored by the WGCA as an All-American Scholar.

To be honored by the WGCA as an All-American Scholar one must follow a list of very strict criteria; you must hold a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
