DeUnna Hendrix adds four to 2014-15 HPU women’s basketball roster

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Head coach DeUnna Hendrix announced the final four additions to the 2013-14 High Point University women’s basketball roster on Wednesday. Hunter Fleming, Abby Tinsley, Aariel Allen and Aneesa Watson will join the Panthers in the fall.

“I am truly excited about these final additions to our 2014-2015 squad,” Hendrix said. “Allen and Tinsley will add versatility and depth to our post game, while Fleming and Watson will bring experience and competitiveness to our guard group. All four of these student-athletes exemplify the qualities of HPU culture and will certainly help us improve as a team.”

Fleming will be a freshman guard for HPU this season. The Kernersville, N.C. native played at RJ Reynolds High School were she was a two-time team MVP. Fleming was a four-year North Carolina High School Scholar-Athlete.

Tinsley is a six-foot forward from Charlottesville, Va. She played her final two high school seasons at IMG Academy where she averaged 13 points and eight rebounds per game. She spent her freshman and sophomore seasons at Tandem Friends High School where was a two-time Delany Athletic All-Conference selection.

Allen joins High Point after two seasons at Tallahassee Community College. The forward averaged 10 points and 8.8 rebounds per game in 2013-14 for the Eagles. She was a two-time state champion at P.K. Yonge DRS in Gainesville, Fla and a three-time first-team all-area selection.

Watson is a transfer from the University of Central Florida who will sit out the 2014-15 season. She will have three years of eligibility remaining with the Panthers. Watson played in 25 games at UCF last season and averaged 5.2 minutes per game. Originally from Fayette County, Ga., she was named to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Clas 4A All-State team her senior year at Fayette County High School.

These four will join guards, Lydia Harvey and Kat Harris, as well as forward Kennedy Curie as newcomers on the 2014-15 roster. High Point also returns four starters from the 2013-14 team that won the Big South Regular Season title, including Big South Freshman of the Year Kaylah Keys.
