Practice begins next week, Friday Night HS Football Games will be here before you know it and”Who will be the top QB’s in GC this season”?????

Who will be the ‘Top Five’ quarterbacks in Guilford County this upcoming high school football season?????

The football practices begin for real, next week and the Friday night high school games will be coming up in just about one month and who will be the ‘Top quarterbacks’, coming out of Guilford County this 2014 season?

Here are a few of the QB’s that we know will be out there and some of ours, may end up being in your ‘Top Five’ too, but again, here some to looking at and for sure, if they stay healthy they should end up with some very good seasons in 2014….

Jamiel Mack(High Point Central)….Seems like lately, he is always somewhere near, the top of our list….
Malik Stimpson(Grimsley)
Dominic Britt(Page)
Ryan Craven(Southeast Guilford)
Alec Cobb(Ragsdale)
….Cobb at the controls….
Hendon Hooker(Dudley)
Josh Homol(Northwest Guilford)
Nathan Stoner(Sothern Guilford)
Christian Gardner or Other(Smith)….Seeing some Myles White talk here for Smith….Gardner has departed by way of graduation….
Reid Flippin’s younger brother(Western Guilford)
Eastern Guilford(Your guess is as good as mine?)….Did hear that Jarius Morehead, the top athlete on the team, could line up at QB and also see time at WR….
High Point Andrews(Lost their top man/QB Lamar Raynard that took them to the Title in 2013, along with RB Marquell Cartwright.)
Northern Guilford(Not sure who it will be at QB?)
Northeast Guilford(Looking out, to see who be coming in at QB, this season?)
Southwest Guilford(Got a lot of good use out of Rick Mack and two different QB’s in the backfield, last season, but we don’t have clue yet this year on who it will be at QB?)

Do you agree, about who the ‘Top Five’ will be?????

  1. Hey, Andy. Christian Gardner graduated but there is a rising Sophomore under the name of Myles White and he is showing promise for the Golden Eagles.

  2. Is the Tevin Evans kid still at Western Guilford and just curious for competitive purposes and I believe he was at a HS combine at Guilford College working out as a WR…

One of the Hornets’ key players without a doubt will be Kevin Gehsman….He can run it, catch it, play defense and the defense is his real strong point and he is a kicker too….

If they had a preseason All-Area Team, I do believe Gehsman would have to be on it…

If he has already graduated, then I am the dog in this one, but I think he is still around for one more year….

The Big Game for WG-land and their main man/fan Bill Ahrens and company will be on September 12 when they name that field for Doug Henderson….That will be an emotional night for the Henderson family…

Doug Henderson was right up there with Marion Kirby, Dick Kemp, Bill Slayton and C.K. Siler back in the day and you won’t find any that knowS more about the game than he did in his day….

You want to know something about football, or football history, hook up with Henderson…He would be your hook-up….

And as the Food Lion, Lion says, that is just my two-ten cents worth…

  3. I think Evans will be at wide out great kids and Kevin is still there another great kid.

  4. I think Defense will carry Ragsdale this year seen them at the Guilford 7 on 7 The Ellis kids looks like a player at Linebacker wouldn’t be surprised if he is one of the top defensive players in the area

  5. I think he is a transfer student don’t know from were but all the kids seem to know him

  6. Hybrid with Cobb-Hukill ended after last season…..Hukill decided not to return for this season and therefore Cobb will be a busy Ragsdale QB this year….Look for Cobb to take 90-95% of the snaps for the Tigers this year/in 2014…

  7. Top five look pretty solid but based on last years numbers and returning starters, you’ve got to put Mack as number 1 in Guilford and probably entire piedmont area. He may set some new high school records this fall!

  8. Yes sir and that is why we have Mack up at the top of our list…I hope he lives up to the hype….He had a great year last season with 4,000-plus yards of total offense…

  9. Hendon Hooker will be a stud! The 6’4 sophomore has a lot of hype in the city that made his father a local legend. The kid can absolutely throw the ball! He gives Dudley a dimension that they haven’t had in years… A true passing quarterback ! Looking forward to see him take over the reigns from Emmanuel Moseley! He will have tons of weapons to get the ball to!

  10. Dudley should have plenty of weapons considering they practice more than any other Guilford County team. Explain to me how they were able to practice last week when all of the other teams observing “Dead Period”.

  11. Hendon Hooker is quite a talented young man and he sort of has that ‘It’ factor about him….He has ‘It’ and he can do ‘It’….Saw him in basketball last season and knew then and there that this kid has talent and it is hard to ignore that 6’4….

Don’t want to over-hype the kid too early, he is only a sophomore and I’m sure he will take care of his business and leave his mark as his career unfolds…

Again, don’t want to blast him too fast, but he should be ready to lead the Panthers/Dudley…

Just hope we don’t lose him to Houston one day….

  12. ALL FIVE ARE GREAT HS QB’S, BUT ITS ALL ABOUT THE OFFENCE THEY PLAY IN. KNOW 3 OF THE 5 AND THEY ARE REALLY GOOD KIDS.
PUT THE CRAVEN KID IN SOME OF THESE OFFENCES AND IT MIGHT BE SCARY WHAT HIS STATS WOULD LOOK LIKE.
HE’S BY FAR THE MOST PHYSICAL. SELDOM GOT TO THROW MUCH IN THE WING T, BUT HE’S THE ONLY ONE IVE SEEN WHO CAN MAKE ALL THE THROWS THAT A QB HAS TO MAKE.
ALSO GRADING A QB YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT WHO HE HAS TO THROW TOO.
    JUST A OPINON

  13. Jamiel Mack is a smart, driven young man, who’s a hard worker and dedicated himself this off-season to be a even better player than he was a year ago. His play on the field definitely spoke for itself last season.

Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t.

    198-321 passing, 2855 passing yards.

    197 carries, 1317 rushing yards

27 passing Tds, 14 rushing Tds, 41 Tds in total.

These are not opinions these are facts, until you show me what you got, nuff said!!

  14. Dudley started getting ready for the next season a week after the state title game. It’s what winning programs do. Richmond County, Northern Guilford, Havelock, Mallard Creek, Butler, East Forsyth, Crest etc. all operate like that. They put the work in early while everyone else is playing the Xbox36 so when Fall comes around…………you know how the story ends!

  15. Hey guys,

I heard Tommy Pursley has come out of retirement and is coaching high school football again. I guess he just got tired of the schenanigans in Guilford county.

  16. A lot of programs get around the designated dead times by having “conditioning” versus formal team practices.

There are limits on how many players can be there at a time and what activities they can do.

  17. Witness you speak very highly of the kid Hooker, does he have the heart to shoulder a strong program like the Panthers. He has very little varsity experience?

  18. Hgood, to answer your question about heart to shoulder to carry Dudley we will get to see if he is able to , however from what I have heard and seen is if Moseley would’ve stayed at WR instead of playing QB Hooker would’ve got nod over Dowtin as a freshman , now Dowtin transferred to Northern Guilford so Hooker has 3 years to reck havoc in the Metro. Dudley is more athletic this year than last years team its gonna be a more spread em out, more deep balls and multiple backs in sets

  19. Ryan Craven is a 3 year starter at QB. He’s 6’2″, 208 lbs, benches 300, power cleans 300 and runs a sub 4.6 40. He has a cannon for an arm (although the wing-T hides this). He is extremely physical. DB’s make sure your helments are tight!!!!
