GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Astellas presents Executive Women’s Day and the Wyndham Championship will open its doors to more than 100 women on Tuesday, August 12 at Sedgefield Country Club. Participants will take on topics vital to professional and personal development.

“We look forward to inviting Piedmont Triad-area women to this wonderful event,” Wyndham Championship tournament director Mark Brazil said. “Executive Women’s Day provides a unique opportunity for women to network with successful leaders and learn more about the industry of golf, and we are happy to continue this program with the PGA TOUR and Astellas.”

After getting the day started with breakfast and a networking session sponsored by The Scout Guide, the program will transition to an informative and interactive panel discussion featuring accomplished leaders in the Piedmont Triad community including Sandra Hughes, professor of journalism at North Carolina A&T State University; Samantha Magill, Ph.D. Academic Affairs and Diversity & Inclusion at Honda Aircraft Company; Donna DeMaio, President and CEO at United Guaranty Corporation and Parker White, Founder and Volunteer Executive Director of BackPack Beginnings.

Following the panel discussion, the participants will take part in an inside-the-ropes tour of the Wyndham Championship to get a detailed backstage view of the tournament, including a tour of Golf Channel operations, Wishes by Wyndham, security operations and a discussion with a PGA TOUR caddie.

The lunch program, sponsored by Schiffman’s Jewelers, will feature Molly Fletcher as the keynote speaker. Fletcher is one of the only females to rise to the top of the sports marketing and agent industry. She is an entrepreneur, author and renowned keynote speaker. The day will end with a Making Connections session sponsored by Sunbrella, where participants will meet other professionals in the Piedmont Triad area.

“Astellas is pleased to continue presenting a series of exciting Executive Women’s Day events which engage local communities throughout the PGA TOUR season,” said Gary Kaiser, Director, Urology Marketing for Astellas. “That is certain to continue at the Wyndham Championship.”

The PGA TOUR and Astellas Pharma US, Inc. (“Astellas”), a U.S. subsidiary of Tokyo-based Astellas Pharma Inc. (Tokyo: 4503), introduced the first Astellas Presents Executive Women’s Day in February 2012 at the Honda Classic tournament. The event is part of a 3-year agreement between the TOUR and Astellas in which Astellas will champion the PGA TOUR’s commitment to its new Women’s Initiative.

Celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2014 and contested annually on the Donald Ross-designed course at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., the Wyndham Championship was founded in 1938 and is the sixth-oldest event on the PGA TOUR excluding the Majors.
