Lean, Mean Moseley working on weight

(“You know what you’re getting with Emmanuel Moseley every day. There’s no bad days for Emmanuel Moseley.”)

Emmanuel Moseley(Dudley High School), a 5-foot-11 freshman cornerback who enrolled(at Tennessee) in January weighing 145 pounds, is already tipping the scales at a robust 178.

And he was good enough to earn a first-team spot on Tennessee’s defense back in the spring at his initial size.

In other words, second-year Vols coach Butch Jones remains pleased with the current play and seemingly vast potential of an under-the-radar prospect he plucked from North Carolina — and away from NCAA Division I FCS program UNC Charlotte.

“His style of play has never changed in terms of his swagger, his competitive nature, his instincts, but obviously he’s playing a lot more physical just because of the added strength,” Jones said after Tuesday’s practice on Haslam Field. “Now he needs to continue to go. He can’t play at this level at that weight, and he knows that, and he’s continued work through it. But Emmanuel Moseley has been one of those individuals that’s been great to see in training camp. He’s been extremely consistent each and every day.

  1. I coached Emmanuel when he was a 70lb kid learning to play the game and you could tell even then HE WAS SPECIAL. A natural leader and he didnt play because it was cool or because his friends did. HE EVEN AT 9 OR 10 YEARS OLD LOVED THE GAME!! So im not surprised to read this article and comments from his coach. Emmanuel is a BALLER …dont be surprised when you see him on Sundays soon!!!
