Southeast Guilford Baseball Field to be named in honor of former coach Kevin Callahan

The vote came in tonight from the Guilford County School Board and vote was unanimous, the baseball field at Southeast Guilford High School will now be known as “Kevin Callahan Field”….”Kevin Callahan Field” is coming to Southeast Guilford and it is a time whose time has come….

This is great news, as they will honor the former Guilford County Schools teacher and coach….Coach Callahan coached baseball at SEG and he took the Falcons to the State 4-A Title game back around 2000 and Coach Callahan taught and coached at SEG for 30 years…

Coach Callahan retired from the Guilford County Schools in the Summer of 2013 and he died just about two weeks after his final days at Southeast Guilford High School….

Todd Frazier and Bret Garrett, plus many others worked very hard to get this resolution passed and this is one of those moves that you just really wanted to see happen and I’m sure that there are many in the SEG Baseball Community that wholeheartedly agree with this decision/move….

Kevin Callahan Baseball Field, at Southeast Guilford High School, this is a good day/night for all of those connected with Southeast Guilford Athletics….

  1. Good move by SEG to honor a great man. I always enjoyed my baseball and life chats with Coach Cal over the years. I think our last one was about and hour long at Graham Sporting Goods.

  2. Well-deserved for Coach Kevin Callahan and I passed the word on to the Harrisons at Graham Sporting Goods today and there were some happy faces/smiles there today, when they got this good news….

Kevin Callahan well-respected throughout the Guilford County Sports community….

  3. Very well deserved! One of the best on and off the field. Had the honor to talk ball, and a little bit about life.

R.I.P. Coach, you will never be forgotten!

  4. A really nice guy and an excellent coach whom we lost way too soon.Great job by Guilford Co Schools to honor him.
