Elon’s Beaumont Signs Professional Baseball Contract in Czech Republic

ELON, N.C. – Former Elon University men’s basketball standout Ryley Beaumont has signed a professional contract with the BK Nova Hut Ostrava basketball club in the Czech Republic, the organization and Beaumont recently announced.

“A small percentage of people have the chance to play basketball after college, so this opportunity is a blessing,” Beaumont said. “This is a unique opportunity to see the world and explore a new culture and I couldn’t be more excited. Everything about my time at Elon was special. We have such a tightknit community that really made the last four years feel like a second family. Elon will always be a home away from home for me and it prepared me for this next chapter of my life.”

Beaumont started all 32 games for the Phoenix last season, leading the maroon and gold to an 18-14 record. Beaumont averaged 10.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 30.0 minutes per game last season, recording a total of seven double-doubles. Beaumont finished his career with 1,093 points, which ranks 30th all-time in Elon men’s basketball history. Beaumont was part of a senior class that totaled 68 wins over the last four years – the most for a senior class during Elon’s Division I era. Beaumont was also part of a senior class that featured four 1,000-point scorers.

“We are thrilled that Ryley is able to pursue this incredible opportunity,” said Elon head coach Matt Matheny. “Ryley has helped the Elon basketball program achieve great success over the last four years and we wish him all the best in this new chapter of his life.”

BK Nova Hut Ostrava is a member of the Czech National Basketball League, the highest level of competition in the Czech Republic. BK Nova Hut is led by head coach Dušan Medvecký and team president Ladislav Kudela. The team opens the season on Sept. 27 against BK JIP Pardubice.
