High School Football Saturday morning rewind

There is one high school football game scheduled for tonight/Saturday with Village Christian vs. High Point Christian at Simeon Stadium at 7pm…
The Rewind is Rolling….

One of the biggest Friday nights, under the lights, came from Southern Guilford’s senior RB Reggie Gallaspy, with 24 carries for 246 yards and 3TDs…..

We do have the numbers coming in this morning on the rewind with some they have not yet been seen in print here and here we go with a quick look at Southeast Guilford’s 30-0 road win at Northern Durham…Scoring went for SEG, Styles Jennings five yard run, Stephen Baldwin one yard run, Greg Liggs scored on a 7 yard pass from Bubba Craven, and then Zakey Stevenson ran a TD in from 44 yards away to complete the Falcon scoring…Three two-point conversions for SEG….Some of the key Falcon numbers in the victory:RUSHING — SE Guilford, Steven Baldwin 8-33, Style Jennings 23-101, Bubba Craven 5-17, Kris Fisher 5-7, Zakey Stevenson 1-44, Paul Gardin 1-5, Miles Fairley 3-0, Josh Anderson 1-4; PASSING — SE Guilford, Bubba Craven 4-7-1 71; RECEIVING — SE Guilford, James Paschal 1-26, Ken Fisher 1-25, Greg Liggs Jr. 2-20;…Game stats coming in from the Durham Sun Herald….Big rushing night for SEG’s Styles Jennings…24-0 SEG halftime, Game Over…
The Rewind is Rolling…

More on the table with the Southwest Guilford Cowboys and the RB/QB/WR/DB Eric Cunningham’s 155 yards on 11 carries…SWG QB Devonte Cross went 10-21 passing for 231 yards and Cowboy WR Jeremiah Brown had 5 catches for 128 yards(3 TD’s for Brown)…SWG topped Rockingham County….

Dudley Panthers with one TD each from Darius Graves(who had been injured), Connell Young and from the young QB Hendon Hooker, who took off on a run for around 29 yards to hit the end zone and all three Panther TD’s came on the ground….Solid numbers for the Dudley Panthers’ defense:Dudley Secondary/Defense held WS Carver’s NC State commit 2015 WR Brian Sessoms, without a catch. Safety Trae Meadows INT, Safety Simeon Gatling 2 pass deflections, WR/DB Christian Cokeley INT, LB Pat Connor INT also.
The Rewind is Rolling..

The Page Pirates got a TD pass from Dominic Britt to Diondre Overton(yes, the Pirates basketball star, now a football star too), and Britt threw for a couple of TD’s for Page and Britt held his team together and remained cool under fire when they were down 31-0 and Page did not get the win, but they did battle back and nearly stole the game back from Davie County, at Marion Kirby Stadium…45-40 DC final…

Jamiel Mack had 128 yards and 2 TD’s rushing and 106 yards and 1 TD passing for the High Point Central Bison in their win last night over HP Andrews, at Simeon Stadium…Travis Steele with 101 rushing yards for TW Andrews….
The Rewind is on a Roll….

I’m still just saying the best game I’ve seen or heard about this week might have been that 26-26 tie in the JV game, back on Wednesday night with Grimsley and Ragsdale, at Jamieson Stadium..

In the Varsity game with Ragsdale and Grimsley, the Tigers got the edge last night in Jamestown and after Ragsdale lost their outstanding senior QB Alec Cobb to a collarbone injury, Tevin Quick took over for the Tigers and got them 2 running touchdowns and Brandon Harris gave the Tigers a huge on the ground, after Grimsley had led early in the game 14-0….Whirlies led by Malik Stimpson with two TD passes and WR Bruce Davis with a 79-yard TD grab….
The Rewind is Rolling…

The ‘Play of the Night’ may end up being the 22 yard TD pass from Josh Homol to Mark Garner, coming with just seconds left in the game, to give the Northwest Guilford Vikings their 13-7 win over the Smith Golden Eagles…

The Rewind will Roll on when we get some more numbers and I would like to see some numbers on the WG-Morehead game, that may be the only game we are lacking in the numbers department….
+++++Some of the numbers that I read said Kevin Gehsmann with 200 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns and De’Shaun Taylor, threw for 2 TD’s, one to Gehsmann and one to either Rashad Bovian or Glover….From what I saw, WG only missed two PAT’s, but the last one proved costly and you wonder about the ole’ two-point play when you got to 41-40 and some teams go the SEG/Dudley route and go for two, but that is too much for me to know, I will go with the team and again, a hard-fought comeback by WG, Page, NWG and Ragsdale, with NWG and RAGS able to cash in….

*****Here’s one we may want to keep an eye on:
Matthews Butler runs over West Charlotte 54-6
Butler running back Benny LeMay scored three TDs, and QB Anthony Ratliff passed for a pair in the Bulldogs’ 54-6 win.

*****One other interesting notable number spot on the night from James Alverson at HS OT.com:
East Wake Warrior QB Tripp Harrington showed off his wheels as he rushed for 100 yards and 2 TDs in addition to throwing for more than 300 yards and a score.

  1. Watching that Dudley game… Seeing that the secondary has got to get better. A lot of parents hyping up their kids up.. Exaggerated stats and plays made, then the kid is getting burned! Tre Meadows? & McCain did an outstanding job last night. I just think some of these overzealous parents need to stop the lies so the college coaches won’t write the kids off once they see it’s all false. Stay true

  2. WG- Waiting on the numbers too….. Morehead jumped on Western quick. With score in the middle of 2nd qtr 34-7. With just over 3 mins left in 2nd qtr QB change and De’Shaun Taylor added to the line up. Going into the half score 34-14. With the Hornets defense stepping up– the Hornets Offense scores 2 unanswered touchdowns. Going into the 4th Morehead gets a quick TD, however the hornets answered right back. The Hornets get the ball down by 7, with 2:13 left to go in the 4th. Taylor finds Evans on the first play of the drive with a 35 yd completion. The Hornets enter red zone with a 10 yd scramble from Taylor for another 1st down. Following 7yd completion to Stephens, Taylor throws a rocket to Gehsmann in back of the end zone for a TD… Final score 41-40 with a missed extra point.

  3. Also Dudley QB Hooker did a great job. Came wait to watch his growth through the season. And congrats to all the high school teams and many more exciting Friday nights. Prayers for injured QB at Ragsdale

  4. Shout out to the Bison big win last night!!

Geoffrey Wall was making big plays for the Bison in the running game and as a receiver, And Jamiel was Jamiel a smooth operator back there taking what the defense gave him, RB Chavis Little ran hard all night and picked up the tough yards. Tim Ward 6″6 DE was a tackling machine making plays all over the field and grab a one handed interception to end the game!

Complete team effort out of the Bison over a tough foe.

That was just the beginning of some exciting football to watch over the couple of months throughout Guilford County, Good luck to all the teams the rest of the way!!
