GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College’s Shawn Watt broke a scoreless tie with 6:18 left in the game’s second overtime to earn the victory, 1-0, over Guilford College Saturday Night.
The Quakers and the Pride played an even first half with Guilford holding a narrow shot advantage, 5-4. Guilford held the first half corner kick advantage, 5-1.
Greensboro rallied in the second half, outshooting the Quakers, 8-3, while also gaining the second half corner kick tally, 4-1.
After a scoreless first overtime, Greensboro’s Whit Maupin connected with Watt on a cross into the box for the game-winning goal.
Greensboro finished the contest with the shot advantage, 16-11. Guilford and Greensboro concluded the game tying the corner kick tally, 6-6.
Marko Mandalinic stopped one shot in net for the Quakers. Greensboro’s Logan Rohde made three saves.
The Quakers return to action tomorrow afternoon for a 4:30 p.m. game at William Peace University in Raleigh, N.C.
