College Men’s Soccer Final – William Peace 2, Guilford 1

CARY, N.C. – William Peace University scored two first half goals in less than two minutes to claim a Sunday afternoon victory over Guilford College, 2-1.

Guilford (0-2) held the shot advantage, 15-9. The Quakers also held the advantage over the Pacers in corner kicks, 11-1, with nine of Guilford’s total corner kicks occurring in the second half.

Dylan Shields and Andrew Suarez connected on goals in the 15th and 17th minutes respectively in the first half to give the Pacers an early advantage.

Guilford fought back in the 85th minute of the second half when Corey McDonough found Christian Torres (Greensboro, N.C./Southeast Guilford), cutting the lead in half.

Eric Hayes (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale) stopped three shots in net for the Quakers. Connor Johnston made three saves for William Peace.

The Quakers return to action Friday, when they travel to Ohio Wesleyan University to participate in the Fred Meyers Adidas Invitational against Case Western Reserve University.
