2014-15 High Point Women’s Basketball Schedule

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women’s basketball team release its 2014-15 schedule on Monday. The Panthers open the season at the Millis Center against Brevard College on Nov. 15. The non-conference slate also includes N.C. State, Nebraska, William & Mary, VCU and in-state rivals Elon and UNC Greenbsoro.

“There are absolutely no easy nights this year,” said head coach DeUnna Hendrix. “We purposely put together a tough non-conference schedule to prepare us for very competitive Big South play. We will rely heavily on our experience and leadership from last year’s run while we are battle tested nigh in and night out.”

High Point hosts Greensboro College for an exhibition on Nov. 6 before kicking off the regular season on Nov. 15 against Brevard. HPU’s first road game will be at East Tennessee State on No. 17 followed by a trip to Raleigh to face N.C. State on Nov. 21.

HPU will also host William & Mary (11/23), Elon (11/30) and UNC Greensboro (12/8) in non-conference play. The Panthers will make trips to Davidson (11/25), VCU (12/18) and Nebraska (12/20).

The first Big South Conference game of the season will be played against Longwood on Dec. 2 at the Millis Center. HPU will also host Presbyterian College on Dec. 6 in league play. Big South action kicks in to high gear after the new year with a Jan. 3 game at Liberty. High Point will host Winthrop on Jan. 10 in a rematch of last year’s Big South title game.

For the third year the Big South Conference Tournament will be held at the campus of Coastal Carolina in Conway, S.C. The women’s first round games will be held March 3, followed by quarterfinals on March 5, semifinals on March 7 and the championship game on March 8. The winner will receive the league’s automatic big to the NCAA Tournament.

High Point returns all five starters from last year’s regular season championship team, Stacia Robertson, Kaylah Keys, Latrice Phelps, Teddy Vincent and Ashante Richard. DeAnneisha Jackson, Lindsay Puckett and Maja Michalska also return as key contributors.

The Panthers have seven newcomers on the roster including juniors Aariel Allen and Lydia Harvey. The four freshmen on the team are Kat Harris, Hunter Fleming, Kennedy Currie and Abby Tinsley. Katie Vincent, a senior on the HPU volleyball team will also join the women’s basketball team when the volleyball season ends.
