College Men’s Soccer Final – Ohio Wesleyan 2, Guilford 0

DELAWARE, OHIO – Guilford College fell in day two of the Fred Meyers Adidas Invitational to the host institution Ohio Wesleyan University, 2-0. The Battling Bishops were ranked 22nd in the recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III Top 25 poll.

The Quakers held back the Battling Bishops for most of the first half until Ohio Wesleyan’s Colton Bloecher sent a cross from the right side to Evan Lee to claim the lead, 1-0. The Battling Bishops added to their goal total in the 66th minute thanks to a Phoenix Neitzelt pass at the top of the box to Taylor Rieger.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot the Quakers, 19-14. The Battling Bishops also held the advantage in corner kicks, 11-2.

Mark Mandalinic made eight saves in net for the Quakers. Colin Beemiller stopped three shots for Ohio Wesleyan.

The Quakers return to action Wednesday, traveling to Rocky Mount, N.C. to face North Carolina Wesleyan College at 4:00 p.m.
