College Women’s Soccer Final – Piedmont 4, Guilford 0

RALEIGH, N.C. – Guilford College dropped a Saturday afternoon non-conference contest against Piedmont College, 4-0. The game was part of the Meredith Classic held in Raleigh, hosted by Meredith College.

The Quakers’ defense held the Lions scoreless during the first half, keeping the score tied, 0-0. Becca Banks shutout the Lions in the first half, stopping four Piedmont shots.

Piedmont countered in the second half with a Kalyn Dumanowsky goal in the 50th minute from Shayna Rogers. Savannah Castles added the Lions’ second tally in the 62nd minute. Nikki Means score the final two goals of the game, 2:09 apart, to widen the Piedmont lead, 4-0.

Piedmont held the shot advantage, 20-5, and corner kicks, 7-2.

Caitlyn Young relieved Banks in the second half, stopping eight shots. Piedmont’s Michaela Gardner made three saves.

The Quakers continue in the Meredith Classic tomorrow, playing tournament host Meredith College at 2:15 p.m.
