Melissa Charles new coach with High Point Eagles’ Varsity Girls Basketball Team

Courtesy of Coach Alfonso Scandrett:

I am pleased to announce Mrs. Melissa Charles has consented to join the High Point Varsity Girls Basketball Team as our new Assistant Basketball Coach. I welcome Melissa as our new girl’s assistant coach as I know that a team and its head coach are only as good as those who dedicate their time and skills to work in our program. Melissa brings knowledge and experience to the program and will be a welcome addition.

Melissa is a college graduate from Virginia and upon her move to North Carolina she met and Married Mark Charles. They have 3 children: Isaac, Elizabeth and Ethan. Elizabeth will be playing in the shooting-guard position on this season’s Eagle team and is currently a member of the Forsyth volleyball team. This will be the Charles family’s first year as members of the homeschooling family.

Melissa shares the following: “I grew up in church but did not come to know Christ as my personal Savior until I was 25. My family and I attend Woodland Baptist Church where I teach the 3-4th grade on Wednesday nights and play in our church orchestra.” Interestingly Melissa, herself, played basketball since she was in the 3rd grade and lettered up to and through her high school years. Her coaching experience speaks for itself, “I was head coach of the JV girls’ team (grades 6-10) for the past 2 years at the school my children attended.” Coach Charles responsibilities will be to assist with practice sessions, and game situations. I, am pleased to have a person with Melissa’s background involved in our varsity girl’s program. Please give Coach Melissa Charles a warm “EAGLE” soaring welcome.
