ELON, N.C. – After a midweek match Wednesday, the Elon volleyball team (3-4) is back to tournament play this weekend in the Hampton Inn & Suites of Holly Springs Invitational in Buies Creek, N.C. The Phoenix plays North Florida on Friday, Sept. 12, at 4:30 p.m. and South Carolina (10 a.m.) and host Campbell (7 p.m.) on Saturday, Sept. 13.

Looking Back
The Phoenix picked up a 3-2 win on Wednesday in its third five-set match of the season. The Panthers took the first set but Elon rallied to win sets two and three before the match moved to a deciding fifth set. Both Megan Gravley and Sydney Busa led the maroon and gold with 12 kills, while Kayla Agae posted a double-double with 11 kills and a career-high 20 digs.

Hampton Inn & Suites of Holly Springs Invitational
This weekend will mark the 14th meeting between the Phoenix and the Camels in a series dates back to 1997. Campbell won the first 10 matches the teams played but Elon has claimed victory in three of the last four, including a 3-0 victory in Alumni Gym last season. The Phoenix has played both North Florida and South Carolina only once before. Elon faced UNF in a tournament in Winter Haven, Fla., in 1994 with the Ospreys winning in three sets. The Phoenix played in the Gamecock Invitational in 2011 where South Carolina claimed a 3-1 win.

Head Coach Mary Tendler
Elon head coach Mary Tendler is in her 12th season with the Phoenix program. She enters this weekend’s tournament with a 188-179 Elon and career record.

Looking Ahead
The Phoenix will return home to Alumni Gym on Wednesday, Sept. 17, to host North Carolina A&T at 7 p.m.
