High School Football Saturday morning rewind:Numbers look good from Friday night:Southern Durham top 3-AA team in the state?/Dudley-Hillside video

*****Post a work in Progress*****
Picking them up and putting them down, that’s what the high school football players were doing on Friday night and here we go with some of the numbers that we have available and if you have more, or hear of more, send them our way….

Jamiel Mack and Reggie Gallaspy have to be up here at the top of the pile/stack of key numbers from Friday night….Both of these kids/young men have been putting up steady numbers all season long and I will be going to the Burlington Times News to try and collect some totals on C.J. Freeman from Friday, but here you are with a start to your day and without looking back, let’s first look at Gallaspy and Mack and then add in names like Homol, Quick, Timmons, Gehsmann, and others…

Reggie Gallaspy(Southern Guilford) with 296 yards on 26 carries and 4 touchdowns….
Jamiel Mack(High Point Central) had 5 TD passes in the first half and ended up going 15-23 for 224 yards passing and not sure of Mack rushing totals on the night….Charles Edmund was on the receiving end of two of those 5 Mack TD passes for HP Central…Tim Gorham grabbed one of those Mack tosses for a 61-yard score…
Justin Timmons(High Point Christian) pulled in four(4) big interceptions for the HPCA Cougars on Friday night…HPCA doing some good, positive building at (4-0)…
Gallaspy and Mack really kicked up a notch or two again on Friday night and what can you say about Timmons, it is not easy to pick off four passes in a game, even if you are lined up in a 7 on 7 skirmish on the practice field…But we have more names too for you…

How about the trio of Kevin Gehsmann, Tevan Evans and Keenan Stevens at Western Guilford? KG with a TD, a FG and three PAT(kicks) and the kid played a mighty active game of defense too….Evans ran for a TD and he threw the game-winning TD pass to Stevens with just 6.2 seconds remaining on the game and Evans engineered the game-winning drive in the in the last 1:04/minute and four seconds, of the contest….Stevens had two huge receptions/catches on the game-winning drive and none bigger than the TD grab that put the Hornets in front for good, with just seconds to play….

There was a touchdown pass and TD run for Tevin Quick of Ragsdale in the Tigers large win at Page High School last night…Quick has been a ‘quick-study’ at QB since he took over the reins from Alec Cobb in the first half of game one back on August 22….139 yards passing and 66 yards rushing for Mr. Quick last evening to send Ragsdale to a mark of (3-1) on the year…Brandon Harris had 130 yards rushing and a touchdown to compliment Quick for Ragsdale last night…

If your name is Tevin/Tevan, you were having a good night on September 12….

Another big night for Northwest Guilford quarterback Josh Homol, as the senior put together 198 yards passing for two TD’s and he also ran for one score…Homol is beginning to excel in the new Viking offense instituted by new NWG head coach Jared Rolfes and last night was no exception…Homol connected/hooked up with his primary receiver Thomas Hennigan 100 yards and one TD and Kevin Henry hauled in the other TD toss by Homol…Sounds pretty good, Homol to Hennigan and then Homol to Henry…Homol is getting it done for the Northwest Guilford Vikings…

On the Northern Guilford win at Burlington Williams from Matt Krause at the Burlington Times-News:
In the first Mid-State 3A Conference game of his second tenure at the helm of the Northern Guilford, coach Johnny Roscoe led his team to a 55-7 road victory against Williams High School on Friday night at Burlington Memorial Stadium.

Northern Guilford (3-0) scored 55 unanswered points while racking up 403 yards of total offense. Four of the Nighthawks’ six offensive touchdowns were from more than 50 yards out.

“Everything started falling into place for us, I can’t say why,” Roscoe said after the game. “When that snowball gets rolling, it’s hard to get it stopped.”

Northern scoring:
Cam Harris 59 yard pass to Mook Reynolds
C.J. Freeman 59 yard run
Freeman 54 yard run
Harris to Reynolds for 67 yards
Harris to Nick Fryer for 9 yards
Freeman 2 yard run
Tucker Hord interception return for TD
Jacob King fumble recovery and return for TD….
*****C.J. Freeman 3 TD’s and well over 100 yards rushing and Cam Harris with three TD passes and 100-plus passing, while Mook Reynolds had 126 receiving on his two touchdown receptions and probably more…The ‘Big Three’ putting up some big numbers….*****

  1. The rushing combo of Quick and Harris at Ragsdale is deadly!! Harris had a sneaky 130 yards and a touchdown last night vs the pirates in a great team win by my TIGERS!!!

  2. Any word on final stats from CJ Freeman and Mook?

Parents and coaches, please send stats from Friday nights. It’s hard accurately keeping stats on the entire area. We’re trying to keep track of the athletes not on the radar as well!

  3. Offense is exciting but defense wins championships. Any sack or interception stats?

There were a few at Western-SW last night.

  4. Josh here you go on exact/in-exact numbers on NG players Reynolds and Freeman..

    C.J. Freeman:152 yards/3 TD’s
    Mook Reynolds:4 receptions/158 yard/2 TD’s

Those are the totals on those two from NG….

  5. from the SWG-WG game…SWG picked off two Western passes with one by Colton Weeks and the other by AJ Whitley…Weeks return of 15 yards and Whitley, no return…Juan Pagan led the Cowboys with 9 tackles…

Jeremiah Brown led SWG with 9 receptions for 113 yards and one TD…

SWG QG Devonte Cross had 82 yards on 12 carries and he was 12 of 25 for 149 yards with 2 TD’s and he threw 1 interception…

Not sure if it was Sarpy or another WG player that picked off that pass…No WG stats to report on Defense so far, maybe by Monday…

  6. Bryson Jumper, Colton Weeks and Ambrose Jackson with 6 tackles each for SWG…No sacks numbers listed…

  7. from James Alverson at HighSchool OT.com/WRALSportsFan.com:

Southern Durham is the best 3A team in the state, and they have the best QB in the state.

I don’t think there is much sense in arguing this now. I know what the 3A AP Poll said last week, and I refuse to believe it until it happens on the field. No one has knocked off the defending 3AA State Champions since they won the title last year. This edition of the Spartan team returns a huge part of the team that went the distance last year. Until someone knocks them off, they are at the top of my ballot, and it’s justified.(Southern Durham QB is Hinton…)
