Elon Women’s Golf Continues to Pace W&M Invitational Field

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Led by freshman Heather Munro’s five-under par second round, the Elon women’s golf team’s grip on first place at the 2014 William & Mary Invitational got a little stronger following a tournament-low round of 285 on Monday. The Phoenix has carded a 585 (300-285) after two rounds of action and will lead second-place Morehead State by 19 strokes entering Tuesday’s final 18 holes of play.

Munro holds a two-stroke advantage over Anna Kim of St. John’s for the individual lead. Munro’s two-round score stands at 140 (73-67) and she leads the 70-player field with 11 birdies.

With a mark of 145 (75-70), Elon’s Kelsey Badmaev holds third place after two rounds. Badmaev, who has the lone eagle of the tournament, has had six birdies through 36 holes.

A third Phoenix golfer also rates in the top 10 as Emily Brooks is tied for ninth after rounds of 75 and 74 for a two-day mark of 149. Brooks is second in the field with 27 pars.

Sunna Vidisdottir’s 151 (77-74) has her in a tie for 13th with a round to play. Vidisdottir has earned 25 pars in 36 holes.

In a tie for 33rd is Taylor Wilkerson. Wilkerson’s score sits at 156 (79-77) through two rounds and she has made four birdies.

Competing as an individual, Heather Dockrill has posted a 173 (87-86) and sits 66th.

Tuesday’s final round will be an 8 a.m. shotgun start at the Kingsmill Resort.
