GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College Director of Athletics Tom Palombo announced the addition of Kelly Braman and Anna Mitchell to the Quakers’ athletics staff Monday. Braman and Mitchell will both serve as assistant softball coaches under head coach Dennis Shores.

Braman played college softball at Western Carolina University for two seasons before transferring to the University of Memphis in 2012 to continue her career. At Western Carolina, Braman hit .315 over two seasons while starting every game as a sophomore. In her two years at Memphis, Braman compiled a .256 batting average over 107 games and made just nine errors. The Charlotte native graduated from Memphis last May with a degree in criminal justice/criminology.

Mitchell played college softball at Surry Community College for two seasons before transferring to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to finish her undergraduate degree in history. While at Surry, she was a First-Team Region X pitcher in 2011.

Mitchell has served as the head coach in the North Carolina Dominators program and as an assistant coach for the Carolina Stars organization. With the Dominators, Mitchell started a 14-and-under team that competed in 20 American Softball Association tournaments in the Carolinas. With the Stars, she helped pitchers and catchers prepare for games and led infield drills at practice while teaching fundamentals of the game.

The Quakers look to build off of last season’s when they won a school-record 29 games. Guilford returns 18 players from the 2014 roster.
